Furniture polish, stain remover and scouring paste—make them yourself for a sparkling home that’s earth- and budget-friendly!
1. OLIVE OIL & WHITE VINEGAR
Combine two parts olive oil with one part white vinegar in a spray bottle. Shake it up, spray onto a soft cloth or paper towel, and wipe your favorite furniture pieces for a really clean, shiny finish.
2. BAKING SODA & WATER
From a clothing whoopsies to a carpet spill, baking soda is your stain removal BFF. Add a touch of water to baking soda until you have a paste consistency then apply to the stained area. For clothes, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse off and run through the washer. If you’re dealing with a carpet mess, let the mixture sit until it’s dry and you’re able to vacuum the powder right up.
3. LEMON & SALT
Bottom of your sink a little grimy? Tile grout not looking so hot? Mix lemon juice with salt for a scouring powder that wipes away messes quickly and easily—minimal elbow grease required!
